Article: HP sees technology growth among BPO firms, SMEs

MAKATI CITY, METRO MANILA – HP is expecting faster growth in tech investments by business process outsourcing (BPO) firms and small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs) sector. During a presentation of its new hardware solutions, HP Personal Systems Group Country General Manager Albert Mateo Jr. said the country's economy is fast improving during the last two to three years largely due to the presence of the BPO industry. He said many of these companies are already looking to replace their existing equipment and upgrade to more integrated solutions. Citing government economic reports, Mateo said the country’s GDP (gross domestic product) grew to 7.3 percent, up from just 1.1 percent in 2009. “There are a number of positive growth areas in the Philippines, which the ICT industry can tap into,” he said. Mateo added that the last few years have seen a lot of purchases of spending on devices and gadgets in the corporate sector, driven by mobile workforce. This provides opportunity for HP to offer new types of ICT solutions. Chief information officers are at the center stage of operations because they are tasked to ensure that the company’s facilities are operating at optimum, thus they must know what would be the best facilities that they can use to improve business.” Some of the IT solutions that the company offered in the Philippines include its Multi-seat, a thin client that shares the processing power of a desktop computer allowing for multiple users. Another is the HP Slate, a purpose-built tablet computer for banks and other financial institutions. HP also unveiled its Elite notebook series touting battery life of over 24 hours.

Our economy today is showing fast growth in the reports of BPO (business process outsourcing) and SMEs (small-to-medium enterprises) sector into the technology investments,  that we are growing to 7.3 percent, up from just 1.1 percent in 2009.  HP is expecting to have a fast growth on what they invest here in Philippines and most especially to technology investments. We know that one of the most in demand course in our country is IT(Information Technology) and those students need those good technology to comply with the work they need to do. Most people in our country are technology/gadget enthusiast, that is why it is a big hit for the technology company to seek investments in our country as we develop to a computer world. A very good example that our country has a very good development in technology is because most of the people here in our country own a cellular phone no matter what standing in life, poor, average or rich. Did you imagine that? No matter what standing in life most of our citizen is dependent to technology and because of that HP or any technology base companies finds a way to invest their products here in Philippines. With the evolution of computers reaching phenomenal levels, it is not far-fetched for many private companies to resort to BPO. This will encourage "work from home" schemes that will prove enormously beneficial to both the employee and the employer.
